EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED... IN A SALON
Miss Gertrude is subtle, intimate and considered.
Miss Gertrude only uses products that are pure, highly effective and, where possible, Australian-made.
Miss Gertrude brings together a team of stylists and technicians who are impeccably trained to an international standard. They are all extremely experienced, continually honing their skills and knowledge of new trends and products.
Miss Gertrude appreciates her community and the creativity that surrounds her.
Miss Gertrude is located right in the heart of Gertrude Street’s creative bustle, with a side entrance ensuring a discreet experience, making the salon one of Melbourne’s best hidden secrets.
Miss Gertrude is edgy and elegant, directional and discerning.
And with equal commitment to contemporary fashion and sustainability, Miss Gertrude is a very modern hair salon.
A passionate cook, gardening aficionado and travel junkie, Scottish-born Leanne has spent the past 15 years in Melbourne, building a loyal clientele. Clients just can’t give up her natural, subtle colour work and elegant, flattering, low-maintenance cuts that work so perfectly with their face shape and hair texture. It’s a knack honed over 19 years in the industry – which means she’s adept at classic work and strong, directional shapes too.
A hairdresser for over eight years, Brisbane-born Jess is a newly minted Melbournite.
Her love of creativity and culture informs her work with hair from cuts to hair ups and styling, while at night it means endless creation – ceramics, cooking, design and sewing. She adores her pup Polo and recently visited Vietnam, a heady adventure to an inspirational tropical climate.
Corey is what we call a 'colour geek'. He loves all things colour, particularly creating amazing highlights. Melbourne born and raised, and trained in a prestigious Melbourne salon. When not in the salon he can be found singing, dancing or just relaxing with a glass of wine and listening to jazz.
Turning from graphic design to hairdressing came naturally for Carmen three years ago. The New Zealand-born stylist adores short hair – especially the ever-popular men’s barber style cuts, which appeal to her graphic sensibilities and precise eye. Carmen is also obsessed with her fur baby, Suki.
The move to Melbourne from NZ was a natural progression for our senior stylist Libby. Having trained at one of New Zealand's top salons, she developed her creative side and knack for styling by working on numerous fashion shows and photo shoots. Libby is an all rounder with her fantastic colour work ranging from subtle, natural tones to creative fashion colours. She has a natural 'ready to wear' cutting style and LOVES big transformations. When Libby is not at Miss G you'll find her socialising or relaxing with a good book.
Arriving in Melbourne by way of Osaka, Japan, Eri is a deeply experienced stylist and colourist. With a yen for simplicity, natural looks and low maintenance styles that work seamlessly with her client’s personal style, she is skilled at strong, sharp styles too.
Simple, minimal designs fill her home and she’s a brilliant cook – Japanese food is her favourite, of course.
Jens has been working as a hairdresser for more than 25 years. He began his career in Germany, where he trained with Vidal Sassoon. Since then he has worked all over the world, honing his expertise. His particular talents lie in colour work – but he’s also rather partial to “eating apples, reading books and a little peace and quiet”.
Led by Sophie, our reception team always offers you the perfect welcome and will manage your appointment needs efficiently and elegantly – whatever you might need.
Our apprentices are a dynamic and creative team. They’re all completing Hairdressing Certificate Level III as well as the in-house Miss G education program. Our apprentices provide invaluable support to stylists and colourists to ensure the best possible in-salon experience for you.
